For the past two years, hotels have been my home, and I'll admit that I've gotten pretty good at finding amazing ones all over the world. When I first started travelling, I would usually book the first lodging that came up in the search results.
Over the course of my travels, I've picked up a few approaches and ideas that have helped me identify incredible hotels all over the world. The most common travel-related questions I receive concern hotels. Before booking an inn, consider the following nine important considerations. Note that this guide isn't just for housing; you may use it to book any type of convenience.
1. Evaluations
I feel forced to emphasise this as much as possible, however for your convenience, please read client reviews before to booking. I've learned that you can't always trust the hotel's star rating system. I've stayed in several lovely four-star hotels as well as some really nice two-star hotels. In most cases, you'll find an example in lodging surveys. Individuals usually praise and complain about quite similar things. Audits are also a good way to find out whether a section of the hotel is being renovated or if something isn't working properly. For example, we stayed at a hotel where a couple of late guests noted in their surveys that one of the property's restaurants was closed for renovations. That was appropriate information to have prior to our arrival rather than being surprised. When I observe them reacting to both positive and negative surveys, I usually give them a friendly pat on the head.
2. Affordability
Various motels provide a variety of amenities. In Argentina, I was once in for a rude awakening. I had the impression that daily housekeeping was typical practise in hotels. Clearly, such was not the case at the inn where we stayed. They tacked on a fee for housekeeping. This was the first time I'd seen this effect on my motions. If you're planning a beach vacation and want to spend each day lying on the beach, be sure the inn has "sea side access or private seashore" listed on their website. I've learned through my travels that it's risky to assume that every hotel provides the same basic amenities. I, for one, appreciate hotels that go above and above to provide excellent amenities at no additional cost. For example, we've stayed at a couple of places that included Apple TVs in their rooms, and we appreciated the extra touch.
3. Internet access (WiFi)
This one is crucial for my computer-assisted wanderers and those of you who work from afar. A few hotels are well-known for advertising "free Wi-Fi" on their websites while charging extra for higher speeds. Different hotels limit the number of devices that can be connected to their Wi-Fi. We stayed in a handful of places where we could only connect two devices to the Wi-Fi. We had three gadgets, so this was a problem. In addition, we stayed in a handful of Asian hotels where the inn advertised "Free Wi-Fi," but it was only available in the front hall.
4. Early/Late Check-In/Check-Out
Before booking an inn, a few groups completely disregard this. It is vital that you obtain this so that you are not burdened. If you intend on arriving early for registration, you may need to trust that your room will be ready. If you register too soon, you may have to pay if you surpass the registration time limit. If our flight arrives a few hours earlier than the registration deadline or departs later in the evening, we book with Marriott because they often allow me to register early and late due to my status.
5. Complimentary Breakfast
We ALWAYS choose hotels that have a complimentary breakfast. Are you sure you comprehend what they're saying? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you don't pay for breakfast, you can save a lot of money and invest it while you're on vacation. Furthermore, I enjoy staying in bed from time to time, so carrying up and down the stairs to breakfast without leaving the lodge is quite convenient. Dining can be costly, you can save some cash by using deals such as Dominos coupon codes, Swiggy coupons, etc to save money on fast food. You can easily grab such codes from CouponsABC which is one of the best platform for free deals.
6. Geographical location
Make sure the region around your stay is safe and reasonable. I strongly advise you to conduct a lot of research on this before making a reservation. I've stayed in hotels that advertised themselves as being within walking distance of this and that attraction, only to discover that they were more than two miles away. Although it is within walking distance, I am not willing to trek two miles in the frigid cold or the scorching heat. If you're visiting a huge city like New York City or Barcelona, it's critical that you choose a hotel that is centrally located to all of the major tourist attractions. Otherwise, given the traffic, you'll be stuck in a taxi for quite some time. Aside from the convenience of being centrally located, it's critical to find a hotel in a safe area. On the spur of the moment in Athens, we chose a hostel in a dubious neighbourhood. As we walked around the area, we were followed by a suspicious individual for a few squares.
7. Cleanliness
I think neatness is a good thing. Bugs, stains, and a soiled restroom? No, thank you very much. We stayed in an inn in Remini, Italy, with a divider that had openings in it. There were also stains all over the dividers, and the restroom was overflowing with shape. I'm not going to publish any pictures of that encounter because it was so horrible and awful. Nothing beats stating the truth in a comfortable room after a long day of travelling.
8. Valuable
Just because you're staying in a five-star hotel doesn't mean you'll get the best value for your money. I've stayed at a five-star hotel where the service was nothing short of a nightmare. None of the employees were aware of what was going on, and they were incredibly rude and ineffective. Nobody wants to splurge for a hotel and be disappointed. I enjoy going overboard on occasion, but I always make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck. You may save money on hotel rooms by utilising coupons and promo codes from sites like Askmeoffers. They have a variety of discounts on their websites, including Oyo Room offers, Makemytrip coupons, and more.
9. Hidden Fees
Prior to booking a hotel, keep an eye out for hidden fees and penalties. You may be perplexed and broke as a result of this. We stayed at a hotel in Dubai that didn't advertise the fact that they were charging a handful of extra fees on their website. When it came time to pay, we were issued a hefty bill due to additional costs that they failed to disclose. We didn't have to pay the extra assessments because we had a screen screenshot of the room rates when we booked the stay. It was nevertheless poorly designed and inconvenient to travel with them. Make sure to read the small print. If you think you'll need it, invest in an amplifying glass.
Professional Tip: If you're staying at a low cost quality hotel and the attendant delivers your luggage to your room, bring money to tip them if it's not too much bother. Always have cash on hand in the event that you need to tip the dedicated employees.
